About the Teacher

Catherine Remus Shefski received her undergraduate degree from Smith College. After graduation, she enrolled in the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England where she studied with Carola Grindea, founder of the European Piano Teacher's Association (EPTA) and earned an LGSM Diploma in Piano Performance and Pedagogy. In 1982 she received her M. Mus. Degree in Piano Performance from New England Conservatory in Boston, MA. Ms. Shefski has performed extensively as soloist, with chamber groups and as a member of the Philadelphia Piano Duo at venues including Carnegie Recital Hall, Jordan Hall, The Philadelphia Art Alliance, Stanford University, Ithaca College, York College, and Wilkes University.

A former faculty member of Settlement Music School in Philadelphia, Ms. Shefski has also held teaching positions at Wilkes Community Conservatory and Doylestown Community Conservatory. She currently teaches more than forty piano students at The Music Studio. In the past she's coached "virtual" piano students from Alaska to Turkey. She's currently open to taking on new students via Skype.
